Trooper

3

An incredibly realistic Cycles render by Mattias Lind.

I have wanted to create a stormtrooper helmet in Blender for a while now, and I finally got my self together and made this. I wanted it to stick out from the croud, so I tried different angles, but I liked the simplicity of just rendering straight on, so I added the water drops. I have heard that they use water alot when photographing cars to make them look more appealing, so I did that on the helmet, wich rendered nicely.

  • Rendered in cycles, blender
  • Background and falling rain made with Photoshop
  • Rendertime on Macbook Pro 2013: 30 minutes
  • Modelling, shading and sculpting: 2 days

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
