I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. #2 on that list is cgcookies intro to character modelling. That video is only ONE minute long and is a quick overview of what the whole 30-video training course has to offer, all of which is not free at all! I'm surprised someone would put this list together and not even notice this...

      • I'm not saying the link is incorrect, I'm saying that the character modelling tutorial on cgcookie is not free and shouldn't be in that list. When you click into any of the videos related to this tutorial you get 'become a citizen to access this content'.

      • David Allen Kolb on

I gotta agree with TimH, no. 2 is simply an introduction (which is basically a lure) for a full course for their citizens. It doesn't belong on this list! I don't mean to knock the folks over at CG cookies, everyones gotta make a living, but to include this tut on a list of FREE tutorials is out of place. Its not even a tutorial, its an overview of the 30 lessons for citizens.

    • Yeah... kinda of a major oversight on there part. They needed to check if it was actually free before putting it on there. I'm sure someone on here could put together a good list of (actually free) free tutorials for Blender.

  2. Ahum ... it's a bit difficult to say ... but the series "Character Animation Fundamentals" by Beorn Leonard isn't free also. Only the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd of 22 lessons are free, the others are for paying Citizens. :-s

  3. seems like the author of this post didn't make much effort to search the web. with the exception of Andrew prices back catalogue and the cgcookie basics, its just stuff they have posted on their own pages previously. an ok list for total newbies i guess, but hardly the top 30

  4. I miss at least one tutorial from the Youtube channel "tutor4u", where I found nice tips, like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCghBIUZyuM , where we learn how to make a stuffed bear.
I miss too a tutorial from VScorpianC, like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXGtxmAi6MY , about meta rig.
This list should include one tutorial from Oliver Villar (Youtube Channel). For example, this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU_pi1UxISs
And, finally, a tutorial from Blender Diplom https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDr2wre7DtbJg8IxJNJkhmw
