Create a Galaxy Fly-Through

4

Sardi Pax uses particle systems to create a galaxy animation.

In this tutorial I demonstrate a method for simulating a galaxy of stars using multiple particle systems, obstacles and forces, then a simple method for animating the camera as well as some basic post render effects.

  1. Great tutorial. Thanks you very much. But i have a problem by rendering the animation. There is a strong flickering in the animation. It is possible that you has rendered every picture separatly and then make the animation with another program ? I have rendered the animation with the DVD-preset from Blender so i'm sure that the render settings are correct.

I guess that you would prefer the author's reply, but i just wanted to comment. If your rendering with the preset in blender, causes a flicker I believe must be a problem with the codecs, and the program you use foe playing back the rendered animation.
If you render your animation as individual images, you could check it out in blender itself. Also you have to be careful with the fps settings. I hope this helps!

      • Thanks for your answer. I have found the problem. In the post processing nodes was a problem. In the glare and blur nodes i had a setting of 1 for the "mix"-variables. In this case the star-particles flicker strong. After i reduce the value under 0.6 the flickering disappears. The reason for this behaviour is that the nodes give out only the processed image and not the original image with a value of 1. So in every frame i have a "new" picture.
