I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

    • If you're on the Blender Cloud you have access to download three of the shots' production assets already. It's not quite the same as a training video, but it's great to be able to poke around to see how it's all put together.

      • I got it. Thanks. Perhaps the movie posts should be more visible on the Blender Cloud (instead of being an obscure link below the banner). Btw, though analyzing blend files may be cool and insightful I think I would personally benefit a lot more from seeing the process, not just the end result. In that regard I would love to see even a non-edited screen-capture of the workflow (perhaps timelapsed) and even without any commentary. This would teach me a lot more than dissecting the assets.

        • I agree it would be even more informative to have a timelapse of the creation process from start to finish, but if I know anything about pro-level character building that's going to be a seriously long video.

          • Hm.. how long would that be ? 1fps screen-capture makes 1hr of work turn into about 3min timelapse video.. 20 hours of work -> 60 min video. I could watch 1hr of timelapse video any time :) This may be overly simplistic, but it can't be that far off. And I agree, such videos may be quite long, but there must be a better tuned level of details in presenting the workflow so that we can all learn a little bit more than getting a general idea of how it is done.

          • It would be great to hear from any of the studios how feasible this is. I expect they'll be pretty tight on time.
