The new Randomise add-on by Ben Simonds offers a choice of manipulation effects for both text and objects.
Ben writes:
This is an add on that I’ve been working on occasionally for a while now. It started with my first attempts at learning python by creating a simple script to help me do cascading text, Matrix style. From there I used a modified version of the script on a job doing some animated numbers and text. I’ve dug it out for another job recently and thought it worthwhile tidying it up and making it into an add-on rather than a stand alone script.

FJ3#*JFS)JFOIJ#ORJ THANKS, BEN!
Cool. I can use this on a project. Thanks.
Unfortunatel it is not working for me… when I try to activate the addon I get an error message "locale.Error: unsupported locale setting” . Line 672 in Randomiser_addon.py is causing this. Line 672 is locale.setlocale(locate.LC_ALL,’en_GB’). I changed 'en_GB' to 'english' and the addon loaded without errors. But now all I get as text in the text object whenever I activate the randomiser option in the text objectdata panel, is ERROR, instead of the text I typed... I'm working on a Win 7 64-bit PC.

Yes, I am getting this problem, as well.
Hopefully, Mr. Simonds or another skilled man can fix this, and BlenderNation can update this at that time. It looks like a great add-on, for certain.
I was wondering how random text could be done just yesterday. Amazing addon Ben!
