I would totally believe this sculpt by Doris Fiebig is a photograph.
Doris writes:
Here is suzanne ;-) An attempt at a realistic chimpanzee. Sculpt of her I had shown in dynatopo thread. After that I made retopo by hand, uv, and then created maps in zbrush (texture, spec, displace, bump, sss, sss alpha), hair in blender with 8 particle systems, several different hair materials ... rendered in 2 hours 45 minutes, a little photoshop post... So, it was quite a change for me from the marble sculptures, and is certainly not perfect, but I tried best, and I hope you enjoy...

There are certain recurring pattern in the hair which leads me to recognize it as "not real", but it looks definitely real!
Doris, I harbor a mild crush on you, and I think it's because you always impress me. Nice job!
Well, that and I just have a thing for redheads in general--well, just merely assuming your BlenderArtists avatar is some form of stylized self-portrait. :)
Ha ha. I always assumed that too.
Stunning :O I would have added some extra color texture and bump to the flesh because it looks a little "blurry". Like I dunno, for example this one http://media.npr.org/assets/img/2013/12/05/78590897-chimpanzee-taronga-zoo-sydney-australia-2007_sq-0b4d761497fd53fa2ef31f52fd6aee634ed50f83.jpg
OK first time I see I can post images O_O
amazing, absolutely amazing.
Is this a new Suzanne in a development build? Whenever I add a monkey in Blender 2.70 it doesn't look like that.
