Samuel Chauvin posted this amazing 'Cars' rig that features every feature you'd need to animate it and even a little more: it even includes a full terrain following mode. If you haven't seen Denya's awesome rigging video earlier this week yet, then you should definitely check that out, too.

Wow о_О This dude is doing really amazing stuff!
Yes, I'm an allien, it's why :-)
Thats really Awesome! Wish I could do that and animate this cool car!
Amazing what is possible with Blender! Love it!
Absolutely amazing! I'm sure the guys at Pixard wished they'd had something like that when they made the movie.
Amazing. Just goes to show that rigging is an art form of its own.
Wow, Thats and incredibly well thought through rig! Simply amazing, Well done!
My mind is blown by these videos being posted. I'm starting to think that rigging in Blender might be fun...
It is!
Probably one of the best blender Rig I ever seen. Absolutely amazing work.
one of the best !?! whow! unfortunately probably not ;-)
"One of the best", maybe not. "I ever seen"... for sure. :)
hahaha ;-)
Amazing! How did he get the wheels and underside to follow the ground?
i wish that rig is in blendswap. man, i want that rig.
The terrain-follower rig needs a BlenderCookie tutorial immediately, if one has not already been made! I've seen these rigs demonstrated in the past but never found a good walkthrough.
I've done something similar, I just used Floor Constraint.
Yes it is an interesting tool, but it doesn't work on a a hilly landscape I believe?
Just contraint object A with floor constraitn and limit distance to object B that is below the ground and it will work just fine ;)
A tutoriel shouldn't be necessary, it's just a shrinkwarp constraint on the wheel's bones ! so easy...Blender is power!!
This is awesome, but what about the doors? :P
hahaha good observation! in fact the video is too short, at the end if you press "enter" all the car is transformed in Optimus Prime!! Do you believe that? ;-)
That's it, I'm finding this man and being his love-slave until he releases a video course
ho! I hope you never find me! :-))))
Yeah this just proves that I am using the right programme, how the hell did he get the car to follow the terrain.
I would love to know how this rig matches up to one Pixar used when they made the film, lol.
Pixar ? Never heard about...
Great!
Excellent work on the rig Samuel! :)
You are a genius and an amazing artist. My determination to learn rigging is that much strong now! Great job.
Ho a genius really? so you can make 3 wishes ;-)
Really great work, Samuel. This inspires me to dedicate more of my time to learning rigging.
Mind blowing! Congratulations!
Simply o_O!!!
Wow....amazing work
Hello there!
I'm the mysterious rigger of this car ^^ (and amazing modeler too!!)
First, sorry for this bad english, I was a very bad student at school...A french expression says: "speak english like a spanish cow" It's my case but I wonder why? spanish cows are probably cool :-)
So...I would like to thank you for all this love ^^
I'm just surprised by this fantastic enthusiasm, in fact I only use the default tools of blender, no script, just some good ideas maybe?
Hey thanks for coming in :) I know it is a lot to ask, but would you be willing to share the .blend file of that car? I'm sure people could learn a lot from it!
Yes I have several requests for that and I understand....But I would like to polish up some details before and especially to be the first one to animate it !! Thank you for understanding ;-)
Sure thing :)
It's so fluid. Incredible work. I hope you work in this field, otherwise it would be such a waste of a talent :)
thanks again...yes I'm a computer graphics artist in freelance, I d'ont use Blender exclusively but it's my
intention! love it...so intuitive
Great work, this rigging videos are so cool. I wish i have that much handle in rigging i only know the basics.
