How to Create ID Masks in Blender

ID Masks are a great tool for image fine tuning in the compositor. Michael Berhanu shows us how to create them. He is also offering the Minion model for download on Blendswap.

Intresting, especially converting commercial workflow into a Blender workflow for Architecture modeling, rendering and post-production.
Right now I can't test it at work, but is it possible to render out black and white renders based on ID's, materials or object names by default. Or do I have to create my own addon for that? Just curious.
