Dolf Veenvliet teamed up with designer Michiel Cornelissen to dynamically generate unique 3D printable rings. Thanks to a combination of Blender and Python, you can now purchase them online.

Dolf writes:

In recent times I have been involved in more and more “generative design” projects. In generative design you teach the computer to make things for you according to a series of rules and design choices. And with 3D printing technology we can make as many variations come to life as we wish.

I was really excited when Michiel Cornelissen asked me to help him create just such a product. He brought his One In A Million Bird design to me (already in a 3D file), and his ideas on what the extremes of the variations should be.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
