I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

      • Yes, but animation support is very important also.. for example, object tracking information can not be exported from other softwares to Blender, but it's possible to export to fbx. Blender does not understand fbx animation.. soo.. not possible. Imports only mesh.

        • Yeah, I read about that limitation after I downloaded it. I was like, "Aawww..." but, hey, baby steps, I suppose. I use other software besides Blender, so I can wait until full .FBX support arrives for Blender, but this new .FBX import should still make working with Blender easier.

  1. This calls for the button!

So glad for what this release in particular provides (particularly the FBX import and improved export, the hidden wire display option, Mesh Bisect, export split normals for FBX/OBJ, and filtering and sorting of list items). As a game developer using Blender in my pipeline, these are small but important improvements.

    • *Selection to Cursor (Offset)*

So small and yet so useful! Just thanks all around, Blender developers, for another fine release! Will keep an eye out for any unspotted issues in the Release Candidate.

  2. Oh man!!

I'm at my mobile internet stupid 15GB monthly limit!! Damn you stupid mobile connection!!

Now I have to wait until the 16th to get 2.69! Whyyyyyyyy?!?!?!?! Oh the pain!!

I can't wait to get me a decent connection again..

  3. not all fixed bugs are listed in release log,
but as long as they are implemented it doesn't matter... :)
... thanks for all the work!

  4. Previously, ideasman42 had mentioned restoring the "self" function to animation drivers. Has this been pushed back to the 2.7 roadmap?
