The first Blender art book of its kind (if you're not counting Shigeto Maeda's Ka-ra books) is now available for pre-order. I think this is a fantastic tribute to the amazing art work that the Blender community has been creating over the past years.

Wes Burke writes:

In this book you will see some of the Blender Foundation Films, along with over 50 individual artists showing off their work. Artists such as Andrew Price, Lucas Falcao, Reynante Martinez, Josh Maule, Nita Ravalji, Jonathan Lampel and many more.

Sample download, images and more info is available on the CG Cookie Shop and the Blender.org e-shop.

When will the book be shipped?

Expected ship date of the finished book is November of this year. Should be just in time for the Holidays. For U.S. based customers, CG Cookie can offer faster and cheaper shipment, for international or European customers you may consider ordering on the Blender E-shop.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

    • It's cheaper than other books filled with other renders, so it's not a bad deal. It costs a lot to make and print, so it's not like they could just hand them out for free. They might even *gasp* compensate the artists in one way or another. Lets not have the "It's made with Blender so it's probably not as good" mentality.

      • "Seriously, 40 euro’s for a book filled with Blender renders?!"

Seriously, complaining about a competitively priced book that pays well-deserved tribute to the tireless thoroughbreds of this community?
