Tip - Caching Node Compositing using VSE

7

Nahuel Belich explains how to improve the performance of the Video Sequence Editor by caching the information.

Nahuel writes:

A long time ago I had this problem, I ask on a few places and also search the wiki but didnt find anything, probably my lack of English knowledge, but i got some luck and found that the compositing node sequence can be cached using the VSE(Video Sequencer Editor ) in order to playback in real time, orignally i did this video in spanish, because its harder to found info, but i also did an English version that for some of you it may be useful.

  1. Now this is why the VSE always showed the openGL viewport for me - I'm on Linux and that box was checked - hiding behind a certain type of sequencer view. With that box unchecked I can finally cache cycles renders including compositing for quick preview. Thanks for the tip!

  2. Wow! Thank you very much for this tip Nahuel. This is something I have always wished blender would have for some years now. To my lack of knowledge (and documentation) I hated compositing videos that needed to change effects over time. I can't thank you enough for this tip. I guess this will be bye bye to After Effect.

  3. Except my bleeding ears, this tip is REALLY handy!!! Great thanks! Now i wonder, why do i need to pay for After Effects? :)))
