Charged - Short Animation in Blender

By Nathaniel Winckler.

Charged for us was a way to push our abilities to the next level. We really focused on the details in everything from the story to the environment to the animation. Almost a year in the making, it was built entirely in Blender. For rendering, we used the open source render farm manger, Loki Render.

Charged won 4 awards at the Highbridge Film Festival: Best Comedy, Best Super Short, Best Sound Editing, and Audience Favorite. We are in the process of submitting it to many more festivals.

  3. Really nice animation. And the sound effects and music was perfect.

The credits were difficult to read in some places - was the music composed and performed for this production?

    • Thanks! Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that credits were a little hard to read, especially on the last slide.

Yes, the music was composed for the film, and then performed by a variety of musicians at my university. The sound effects were recorded and edited specifically for this animation. I'm really proud of my Sound Designer; he did great!
