A compilation of my 8 years learning, playing, working... enjoying Blender!

All professional 3D works here was done by me at casanaarvore.com.br the studio where I'm working using Blender as daily tool for 3D works and AfterEffects for final touches. There are some tests here too and some personal works...

I did this Blender reel some time ago for my presentation at Blender Conference here in Brazil (I just made some adjustments and updates...), to prove that Blender is an useful tool for professionals and can be used professionally even with its limitations.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. i think i must say this, hope the creator answer me.....

mmmm i think AE is not necessary, i think with a powerfull image editor and blender and that´s all, AE is really not necessary ( that´s my point of view ), i like AE, i like zbrush, i like the others, but with Blender, i think the others are not necessary, 1 more thing ( i think is the most important )... if someone join several tools, would be amazing the result, BUT when someone handle almost to perfection 1 software like for example Blender, AE, zbrush, etc... they are really not necessary

About DEMONSTRATE to people, i think is absurd at all, your video is really IMPRESSIVE and i liked it a lot, Congratulations, BUT the way you think is not appropriated or someone who think like you, i´ll tell you why... the reason is... when someone prove something, is becasue the software don´t have any respect and they NEED to prove opposite

then what you need to do is simple, just to blow your mind, only show what people can do and NOT what the program can do, that's the idea, the base, that´s what should be done, that's enough and needless to demonstrate or focus so much on the program name

why i say these words, because that´s the way it is, and opposit to this, is not the right way, please take my words with respect

we gotta be greater than any other program and know teach well

i´m not here for making any trouble, i´m here because i love blender and i wish someday blender be the only one best software ever !

focus only showing your creative and not what the program can do, we are better than others indeed

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR EVERYTHING

    BLENDER is totally IMPRESSIVE

      • Hi Bart, But I Did Explain Very Well :(

Well... i´ll try to explain from another view

what i meant is... is better show what people can do with the software and not necessary to show always what software can do, just focus about show what you can do and say the name of the software but not saying or trying to prove that blender is for pro as well, no way, show what can do with the software, say the name of the software and the other people can understand that blender is really impressive

did you understand me now bart ?

you know that i always speak with respect, and you know i love blender, but it is time to show what we can do with blender without prove that blender is for pro, what we show SHOULD be our prove that blender is really impressive for other people and not saying that blender is for pro as well, our prove speak by itself

that´s not hard to understand my dear friend bart

Hugs... catch you later.. have a nice day, my respects

          • Bart, what´s wrong my friend ?

Mmmm you did understand VERY WRONG VEY BAD, what´s the problem ?

i talked to my friend next to me and he said to me ( i understood perfectly what you wrote ).... but Bart does not

when i speak english with someone, he understands exactly what i´m saying

i RESPECT like i said many times before, i´m tired trying to say that i respect this site and the users, who said BlenderNation ? who said should NOT show professional work ?????????????

ufff my friend, i don´t know what you understood but you did understand nothing what i meant

i´m so sorry but i´m not gonna explain it again because is clearly understandable

Short: SHOW what we can do with the software, and not necessary say blender is for pro, and when people take a look at our arts, they will realize what Blender is capable without being saying the program is for professionals, only show our arts and that´s all

is that so complicated to understand ?

    • I used AE because its an requirement here at the studio http://www.casanaarvore.com.br
I agree with you that Blender can handle all the process but in some cases AE is a huge speed up in the workflow and we have short deadlines always!!!
About your opinion on the way that I'm presenting Blender in my reel,
I created this reel with professional works only(some personal projects too but...) to prove, that in fact, someone is using Blender professionally! Showing what Blender can do too, what this set of tools is capable of. The main reason for this reel was to present, at Blender Conference here in Brazil, professional works done with Blender. That in FACT Blender is used already for professional works.
I know that many of you already knows that Blender can and is already used professionally, but this aspect is almost unknown here in Brazil, people(clients) don't believe that Blender can be used in serious productions, this is to prove, locally or at some other places that have this same problem, that our beloved software is capable!
Thank you all for the comments!!!
      Happy Blending!

      (sorry about my English... :)

      • Hi EverSimo, no... thanks to you for your nice comment

you did understand very well what i wrote and thank you again for your nice comment and reply

Yes... Blender doesn´t need to be presented as a professional software because IT IS

Hugs... and... of course, happu blending always...

        • Hi, LightDash!

That was "LOL" feeling while reading what you write :)
I'm not offending it's just what I feel.
On your 3rd answer I've got what you've meant.
But I think it's OK to add "made with Blender" and other stuff. I don't add similar things by myself but I think it's just a way of Everton's expression of his thankfulness.
So why not? :) It's just his style.

          • hi my friend Moolah, obviously it is ok to say that was made in blender, what is NOT ok is saying that blender here or blender there, we GOTTA speak with our arts, with our works, those arts from us ( speak by itself ]) and of course... blender is for PROFESSIONALS indeed, we gotta say it is made by blender and us, but try to avoid showing the others what blender can do, we gotta show what we can do with blender, that´s the goal

mmm i love blender, but if we are going to do something, we gotta do ir RIGHT, and NOT wrong, and i respect but i do not agree, and of course i respect what EverSimo made, i really respect him, show what we can do with a powerfull tool like blender and our works speak by itself and i am proud for everything we made

            Hugs...

      • Hi, Bart!

Indeed, here in Brazil people look at proprietary softwares with a kind of mystical devotion. I think is the result of years and years and years of brainwashing, brain-rinse and brain-vacuum-drying made by the media.

I think the best definition about the difference between proprietary software and opensource software is this one: proprietary softwares allow some few people make a lot of money. Opensource softwares make a lot of people make some good money.

So, this reel is very important in order to impress people. And your work is really impressive!

        • proprietary softwares allow some few people make a lot of money. Opensource softwares make a lot of people make some good money

          i agree

          this is my phrase:
When someone is trying to prove something, nothing´s good after that

that´s the reason to show what we can create with our thoughts and bring them to reality thanks to our favourite software called blender, that´s more valuable than anything else, believe me

  2. Hi, Everton!
    Very cool Reel!
My favs are pieces where you add graphics to t-shirts and cg-reality clips with children and similar works. Very impressive!
    Cheers!

    • Oh! In that job I used Blender to extract the camera motion and the object motion trough tracking tools from Blender.
I used the Blender compositor to erase the marks from the raw footage too, a very ease way that I planning to share soon...
      Thank you!

      Ever.

  3. This is one of the most impressive reel I've ever seen in blender.
Honestly I'm wow!! and this is full of inspiration.
    Thank you for share!
    Blender for ever.

  4. Nice work, Everton!
I see very quality in your works and animations, you enjoy well the 8 years of study, keep it the nice work, sorry for my bad english, guys!

    Ótimo trabalho, Everton!
Vejo muita qualidade em seus trabalhos e animações, aproveitou bem os 8 anos de estudo, mantenha os bons trabalhos.

  5. It's so nice to see that people work professionally with blender outside of the US. Unfortunately here in the US you have to deal with Corporate Imperialism, and need to be enslaved to (typically) some autodesk or avid, etc. product to be able to do professional work. All of you wonderful artist all over the world, feel good about doing what you love professionally with blender!
