Environment artist Aidy Burrows worked on the new Wii U game 'Lego City Undercover'. He explains how he used Blender for some parts of his work.
Aidy writes:
I thought some people in the community might find of use or of interest the first part of how and why Blender was used to help with my workflow when creating some of the art in Lego City Undercover.
The contents of what i'll be going over in this part are...
- A quick demo of the inset tool
- The solidify modifier
- A procedural rock formation
- Addons for autogeneration methods
In an upcoming article, Aidy will focus on retopology and painting.

Very cool! Love the procedural rock technique! Really great to see Blender being used on AAA games :-)
thank you very much CR , this is exactly what I needed to model rocks quickly for a demo ... you make me save hours and hours of research.
At last. Somebody has given the modifier icon its correct description. A spanner! An English native speaker I presume. I was getting a bit tired of this wrench description.
Interesting video by the way.
