Blender PT Conference 2013 + Game Contest


The 2013 edition of the Portuguese Blender Conference has been announced, including a game competition.

It is our great pleasure to announce the Blender PT Conference 2013, an event gathering researchers, professionals and freelancers to promote the open-source 3D digital tool Blender, debate about its real impact at an academic and professional level and build bridges between digital 3D communities in a knowlegde sharing environment. The conference will be held in the School of Arts of the Catholic University of Porto, Portugal, in April 6-7, 2013. Please check the following URLs for more information.   1. I'm really hoping that you'll post the games, or at least videos, or at the very least links to videos of them online. I always find it fascinating to see what people are doing with the latest developments in the Game Engine.

    • It's based on Poly-hair yes, but I've hand painted it a bit also. I went frame by frame and painted on top of the poly hairs that have a softbody simulation applied with weight painting progressively weaker form rot to tip :) It's was all done long time ago with blender 2.4, now are better ways to do it, but I would recommend you stick to Poly hair... particle hair strands for long hair... don't do it :)

  2. DUDE THIS LOOKS AWESOME. I hope someone can create something that would officially put blender on the game development map (like it or not, not many people [at least where I am from] don't know how good blender is as a game engine, and insist on spending $300+ for modeling software and game engine software that is nowhere near as good as blender). I my game is up by then I'm definitely entering (if I can, I mean really, I cant fly to Portugal to submit, so I hope they have an online submission page)

  3. @Blendiac, we believe that posting the games accepted for the conference will only depend on their respective authors allowing it or not, we will not put any restrictions on that ourselves. As for videos and links of the games we do not think that will be a problem ;)

    @YKTG_ZX, we hope that you will be able to submit your game to the conference (you can do it via [email protected]) we are thinking of including a chapter for online submissions in the conference proceedings
