A very high detail naval ship model by GuillaumeCote.

So this is a replication of the Japan WW2 battleship Yamato. I have made it as accurate as possible with a high amount of polygon so the file will be quite heavy. However, to prevent it to be over sized, I have separated each of the different turrets that replicated in other filed and used proxy. So if you can’t edit an object, go check in the folders and you should find it. Also, the ship isn’t unwrapped, therefor not textured.
I hope you like it and thanks for downloading it!

I's a japanese WW2 battleship: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_battleship_Yamato
Aww - I was expecting it to take off and go fight the Gamelons. : - )
Nice model though!
Wow, nice model. I really like the details. I'd love to see it textured.
Amazing work, I like it.
That is one fantastic ship and a great model .from the renders she looks just fine :) it seems that you got one light source berried in front :) . Thank you for sharing this model with the community .
I am curious, why bother with an external proxy for the turrets instead of just duplicating them with Alt+D instead of Shift+D so that they share the same mesh object?
Either way, very cool looking render!
Good question. Creating a proxy don't link the modifiers and I needed them to be linked so I could change the subsurface more easily. It was also a test because I had never worked with them. Hope it doesn't cause you too much problems.^^
Always want a model of the great Yamato, Read about all its mystery of how was build it. Different architects for each section of the ship, so no body new exactly the end product. The blue plans were destroy, so we don't have internal knowledge of the ship. Very interesting history behind this model. Thank You very much.
Yeah, finding good reference material was a real pain because of the reasons you stated. I was really fun to model despite this however. You're much welcome. =P
My uncle was on the Fanshaw Bay: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Fanshaw_Bay_%28CVE-70%29 Prepare for battle! Just kidding. Nice model.
Battleship Yamato can become more interesting if fusion-powered.
