Free Blender Workshop in Paris this Saturday

28

Francois "CoyHot" Grassard will be creating this scene during a 2.5 hour session in Paris this Saturday. He needs 30 signups though to ensure that the event can happen!

Francois writes:

Hope you're fine. Just a quick E-Mail because i'm in the rush ... as usual .. :o)

Next Saturday in Paris, France, I'll make a conference about the FX pipeline in Blender (about 2 hour and a half).

The purposes of this conference are :

  • Cycles
  • 3D Tracking
  • Lightning using IBL (Mirror Ball)
  • Mocap
  • Compositing to integrate Iron Man into the original shot

The most important information is that you have to register to be there ! The organizer just tell me that ... a few minute ago ! It's ... ridiculous.

The conference is in only 3 days and we don't have enough registered people (of course ... nobody knows they have to register). The main organizer tell me that we can propably cancel it if we don't have more registered people. Damn it ! The full project is already done !

So ... i was asking myself how to tell to the world that we will make this conference and ... finally i thought about Blender Nation ! Even if the conference is in French ... I think it could be cool to make a post about that. At least for the finished video .... :o) Let me know what is you're feeling about that.

I know it's a really quick request but I'm really nervous to know that the conference could be cancelled 2 days before it take place.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. I can't find the link to subscribe on the page of the conference? And on the home page it says "free entry" ?

  2. Thank you Kikko .... I just saw that the Organizer put the registering page offline ! I'm going crazy ! But if he do that, it's probably because he have enough people to maintain the conference.

Sorry for that ... and thank you Bart for your help !

The conference will be record and I'll put it online soon. Even if it will be in French ... I hope it will be interesting for everyone.

    Thanks again for all !

  3. Sweet!
Actually that post helped to me find out about the event that I didn't know was happening! So it will probably will inform others!See you on saturday!

  4. Great video. I have not yet done matchmoving with Blender for my own, but I did few in the past with SynthEyes and the exporter for Blender. I am really impressed by the ability of Blender Tracking system to work with shaky video shots !
    Excellent work.

Actually, it's like this to demonstrate how camera-track works, integrating real footage with Blender elements. But it's a bit too much, I agree...

Makes it look crappy as an actual shot. But it's basically like technical porn when you see how well it handles the shakiness.

      Enjoy it.

  5. /I/ want to go to Paris and learn how to track and mocap Iron Man.

(can't happen though, this time.  Minnesota VS. my budget.  I think a neat "bucket-list" would be to take a season or two and travel to random Blender meetings---travel+Blender-heads is a win-win)
