Breakdowns for Assembly: Life in Macrospace

6

Jonathan Lax and Ben Simonds show you the magic behind their short 'Assembly: Life in Macrospace'.

Ben Simonds writes:

We recently put together some breakdowns, showing how we did a few of the CG shots featured in our short, Assembly: Life in Macrospace. If you're interested in seeing a bit of how it was made, then watch on.

All of the CG shots were made in blender and rendered in blender internal, though some of the fluid sim was done with realflow and later imported into blender. Post processing was a mix of blenders compositor and After Effects.

You can watch the original short in full here: Assembly: Life in Macrospace.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
