RC helicopter

This is my first project rendered in Cycles. All the textures were created in Gimp. The model is Syma S107 indoor rc helicopter that can land on the palm of your hand. Very cool. When I saw the model I figured it would be a perfect test for Cycles. Rendered at 200 passes, time came in at around 16 minutes each.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Nice work! My only suggestion is that the real deal has longer arms on the counter-balance (and I've flown a few other micro-copters and they're a lot of fun!)

    • Or rotate 'em. I think its only the angle that we're looking at which makes it smaller. But the one thing thats funny is that my brother owns the exact "physical" model of this Helicopter. Very nice job! :)
