Les Recettes Animées d'Apollo

Daniel Salazar writes:

"Les Recettes Animées d'Apollo" is a series of animated cooking shorts featuring original recipes by Canadian Apollo Restaurant. This first video is the introduction to a newly opened restaurant but next shorts will be about Giovanni and Jean-Mi cooking so wait for it!

The short was completely made in Blender, including rendering and compositing by Sarah and me. The two of us are working together here in Costa Rica on this and other projects. I wrote a tiny bit of info and links about Sarah on the ManICan forum page

"Les Recettes" was the first thing she did in Blender but she's converted to the dark side now :) totally blended-in!. Mmm what else.. it was a lot of fun, took around 2 months to do and now we're currently in pre-production for the monthly cooking shows that are coming!

cheers
Daniel & Sarah

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Looks phenomenal, and held my interest the whole time even though I don't know anything they were saying...other than Absolut...

  2. Hi,
this is a really cool short film, I'm waiting for the next episodes impatiently.

I guess it's not so difficult to understand but here's a translation for those who can't understand French :

    - Jean-Mi
    -Yes Chef
    - Give me the Opinel
    - The what ?
    - My Opinel.
    - What ?
    - My O-pi-nel knife.
    - There it is.
    - Thank you ... at last !

(idem with a bottle of Absolut Vodka and of Havana)

    - Welcome !
    - er ... we don't have a sponsor for "Wellcome"
    - Welcome !

  3. Great animation! Googled 'manIcan' but did not find anything. ..care to post a link if possible? Would be lovely to know more about the animators.Of course, Salazar is blender-famous, but Sarah less so. Thanks again for sharing!

  4. Nice work,
I googled ManICan but did not find any forum / web page. Would be grateful for a link. Would love to know more about animators, especially in far away countries.

  5. That was terrific! Of course, I immediately went to the restaurant's website and looked up the chefs. If I lived in the area, I'd go there just to see what Giovanni and Jean-Michael are really like.

  6. My ears are burning... Well not to get off track on Les Recettes Animées d’Apollo. Although, I am so honored to have Daniel and Sarah working on this Man-I-can short, not to mention the learning material that will come from it, the fact is these two are a team like no other. I know I will be following Les Recettes Animées d’Apollo even if I don't understand a word of it. :) Three thumbs up you two! Glad I got you when I did.

  7. Excelente trabajo Daniel! Veo un trabajo muy cuidado de animación, con excelente calidad. Da gusto que trabajos latinoamericanos tengan este nivel! Enhorabuena!
