Job: Shading, lighting and compositing position @ SparkDE

22

Spark D.E. CGI and VFX company based in Rome is looking for an artistic figure with strong organizational skills to become a member of its staff permanently.

Francesco Paglia writes:

The ideal candidate is an artist experienced in lighting, shading and compositing, with skills / experience as a supervisor. Must be able to bear the burden of production by organizing and managing the tasks assigned to the team which is responsible for after they have been defined and shared with the supervisor.

Since we’re offering a permanent position, it is important that the candidate is interested in being part of a team and strongly believe in the “value of sharing” as a basic principle of the artistic growth, personal and of the group of which is an integral part.

It is necessary that the candidate sees the use of open source tools (with all the limitations and benefits that they bring with them) as an opportunity, not a constraint to his creativity as the genius does not lie in the tools.

It's appreciated the Blender and Shake knowledge but is not mandatory, our team is available to support the artist in a period of training on the tools we use.

It is preferable that he is a citizen of the European community.

Who’s SparkDE

You can find our latest work at the following link:

SparkDE is a small company made up of a core team of 6 elements that grows as the production requires freelance artists.

Our pipeline is nearly exclusive characterized by the use of Open Source software; makes an exception the editing suite and part of the compositing (at the moment).

We believe that in the long term open source software is the only solution that can runs a small company to grow in skills and knowledge and the example of the Blender Foundation and other companies, both large and small, confirm us the validity of our ideas.

Our goal is to find our place in the global market with a style that can distinguish us, which is why we believe that each project is the best instrument to learn what can we improve facing the next one.

It's important that the candidate for the open position knows that we are strongly inclined to spend time and resources in his training and experiments if he want to promote tools, ideas and best practices that can make a real and active contribution to the growth and characterization of the company .

  1. just for your information,
the reel can't be displayed here in germany, because it says it contains music that is owned by SME and may not be shown here without having it licenced by the german GEMA.

Besides that, good luck with your company, hope others pick that philosophy up as well.

    best regards

  2. Artists love the german GEMA, they are payng their bills.

Wait... we cant play their art her in germany on youtube... So no money for the artists... Hmm. Well they LOVE them no?!
