Simulating Bokeh Shapes with Cycles

6

Mike Pan has written a great article showing how you can replicate traditional photograpy-type bokeh effects such as shaped bokeh in cycles, using very simple methods. It's really interesting to see advances in rendering technology make it easy to bring in ideas from traditional disiplines, so go and have a read.

  1. I have had this same idea in my mind for some time, but i have not tested it because i have not yet tested even the cycles yet, because i am waiting for the final relase. Really cool. :)

  2. This is absolutely awesome! 3D Renderers following reality as close as possible. Of course that's what Unbiased renderers are supposed to do that, but still it's very cool to have it proved this way.

  3. can't wait for blender 2.6x to see cycles integrated in an official release. and also the new camera tracker. keep it up blenderheads :)

  4. @CG Nick: If I'm recording correctly Cycles is scheduled to be integrated in 2.61. A little more to wait. Until then I hope we will see some OpenCL love.
