Blender Digital Artistry session at Siggraph 2011

7

Bassam Kurdali will host a workshop called 'Animation and rigging in Blender' at Siggraph. He writes:

I'm teaching a Blender workshop at siggraph 2011- I believe the first time a blender course has been part of the official conference- hopefully not the last!

Cool :)

From the announcement on the Siggraph site:

An introduction to Blender for users of other 3D software. The talk focuses on rigging and animation for "unusual" setups: effects sequences such as growing, timel apse, and motion graphics. But it also touches on some of Blender's character-animation tools and add-ons, modeling materials and rendering, and the Blender "mental model" for user interfaces, data structures, and scripting.

Date+time: Sunday, 7 August 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Location: The Studio/West Building, Ballroom A

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. metoo - I'm not sure, but I don't think so-
Rick de Wolf, since this is part of the Siggraph proceedings, you need to have a conference badge, which is not free- but assuming you have it, it would not have an extra charge. This is unlike the blender BOF / community meeting, which is free to all, and the exhibits area which is only needs an exhibits pass.
I'd check on the Siggraph website to make sure, because I could have gotten it wrong :)

  2. Will you have this session recorded by somebody, hopefully not only your screen but the entire class, for those of us who'd love to learn about your teaching but can't make it to the conference?
    CHeers!
