I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

That's awesome :D
I'm already really curious, what kind of cool stuff emerges this time from Siggraph :)
Ton, its well deserved! Congratulations to you and the team.
WOW, congrats from me, too.
You deserve it. The better it ranks in the end, the more attention blender will get, so this is really good news.
I was just reviewing Sintel yesterday and I gotta say that it's a brilliant work. It's got all the ingredients of a hollywood animation, the music, well-though out scene sequences and pacing, camera angles, etc. The BF team deserves all the accolades considering the half-baked tools they were made to use. The only thing that needed improvement to me is Sintel's facial structure and some awkward body movement.
All in all, it's professionally done.
This is a moment of great pride. I am incredibly proud of the blender foundation and where it has got too! the hard work put into this film is self evident. I am so happy to be accepted in such a great community.
Bravo Ton
This is a serious step in your Blender venture... You deserve it.
Keep going and the team I wish you all a great future...

"Sintel" keeps going places! Yay! Glad to see it presented among the best of the best in experimental and emerging technologies! And I'm just STOKED about SIGGRAPH this year, especially to see that whole surround haptic-feedback thing! A LOT of haptic technology going on at SIGGRAPH this year, and there, will have our own "Sintel" presented there, shining as a beacon of open-source films!
I have SO much to look forward to in technology this year! First, I've got E3 2011 to look forward to in two days, where I can get my first official look at "Project Café." And then SIGGRAPH 2011 in 63 days! I'm finally getting a sweet computer rig pretty soon (after years of waiting), and sometime this year, I get a whole new level of Blender to play with on it! Can my techie life get any better?
we all know the way to finish this one was tough. And finaly we see more
and more recognition. My congratulations to all artists, developers
and everyone who loves Blender!
Congratulations to the production team
Well deserved !! congrats!

Congrats to all of the team.
you really inspire us.
well... not really a surprise is it? still not taking anything from the creators, just kind of would be more of a surprise if they didn't
Keep putting more Hollywood in Blender!! Excellent Work!
Finaly! Yeay!
