Blender Used In National Jimmy John's Commercial

12

LightboxFX in coorporation with Aurum Design has created 1.5 second TV commercials for several Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches TV commercials that are airing across the US currently on the major networks and cable channels. Scott Hill, the person who is behind LightboxFX, is a 3D animator and compositor with years of experience with a main focus on compositing and film. In Blender 2.5 he build the model and did the logo tag spin animation while Aurum Design added the 2D text and sandwich animation and produced the final composition.

  1. That was a freaky fast delivery! :)
I know it's in a commercial production, but still, let's have some dignity ;)

  2. Where is BlenderNation based anyway? As Blender is a Dutch (and thereby European) product and has supporters all over the world, the word "national" is hardly the correct description for a US-American commercial. Please be more precise with your headlines, as the lower half of North-America is just one in a few hundred of nations worldwide.

  3. The (short) definition of "national" is "common to a whole nation". Given that the commercial will be show across a nation, “Blender Used In National Jimmy John’s Commercial” is correct. In fact, given that it is common to a whole nation, it is precisely correct. The mere fact that the nation in question is not your nation is entirely irrelevant.

Back on topic, it's nice to see Blender spreading further into the market and interesting to see that it's been used by its target demographic!

  4. Commercials are typically only about 30-60 seconds long, so every second counts.

Please don't act like this isn't a nice feat. Although small, this is one of the precious few times Blender has been used in a marketing campaign of this scale. I'll take anything that will help others start seeing Blender as the serious, mature tool it has become.
