I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. dynamic spacebar is the best, i almost wish it was the default for new people, but it's like a click away so i don't really care, i just think it's great

  2. not working properly on ubuntu. when you start blender you get the new spacebar, but after ctrl+n it's the old search menu again.

  3. marcrus : you should first activate the addon then save the settings with CTRL+U , when you make a new project with CTRL+N the addon will still load too so that you can use the dynamic space bar again, try this and let me know if it works.

  4. Yeah, the dynamic spacebar addon is just plain awesome, but it seems to randomly stop working for me. On Windows 7 here, so I dont think it's just a Ubuntu issue.

  5. I've been using it on Windows 7 for over a month now, and I've been very frustrated with it. It randomly disappears during the same session in the same file. I've found no pattern to what makes it revert to the standard spacebar search.

I like it a lot, but it needs to work better.

    Any ideas?

  6. NOT working for me too on Beta 2.55, XP sp3, after Ctrl-N, still something really useful(that is until you restart Blender. :) should I report it as a bug?

  7. hi,
I'll be submitting a patch soon to enable the spacebar menu from User Prefs Interface.
this should fix the start up problems.
As for the double press to bring up the search...
You can acess the search at the top of the spacbar script by clicking on it.
So that's One Press & One Click, not really that hard.
Also if you press the spacebar outside the 3dview the original search function comes up.
so that's an added bonus feature. :)
    enjoy.

If I press "Space" and then select "Transform Menu -> Grab/Move" then next time "Tranform Menu" will be selected.
So, not "One Press & One Click", but "One Press & Mouse Move... & One Click". :(
Please add double press for the search. :)

  9. Yea, this seems to break if you edit some of the default key configs on occasion..

When I say break, it just reverts back to the old space bar search menu, it's weird

(Linux & windows both with official build of 2.55).

  10. hi,
It's known that custom key configs disable this addon.
It also affects all other scripts with key changes.
Definatey I will try to get this fixed at the latest by Blender 2.6
at the earliest a few weeks.
Thanks for all the support for this addon.

  11. Jessy, I left the right click free for the pie menus.
If you want to write them your welcome to.
Haivng choices is better than being locked into 1 menu type.

  12. meta-androcto, I don't think you understand pie menus. Pie menus should be triggered by many keys, and many other keys should only be modifiers to trigger other pie menus. Check out modo for a decent implementation. All other forms of menu-based interaction are inferior so having others included is just clutter and a waste of developers' time. I'm not interested in writing them, and from your post, I don't think you're interested in writing either. :-P Make Blender a paid app. Then I'll support you monetarily to do better. You should start by buying an Intuos4, so you can learn to share my hatred of not-pie menus. ;-)
