Paul Caggegi released 2 video tutorials of his character modeling using Blender 2.49b this month. The first one released on August 10th is about the boot tongue and laces, adding more details with extrusion, edge-loops, altering crease weight, and modeling with Bézier curves. The second one from August 22nd is said to be focusing on getting the hair and teeth. Visit the links to his site for the direct downloads of these videos and more.
Paul Caggegi writes:
August videos for the process diary are now up. The modeling series is almost complete, with just one left to release.

First :D -I like these.
why oh why the ancient 2.49 ????
Because the version he uses doesn't make a lot of difference in his kind of tutorials. He doesn't talk about hotkeys or menu commands, notice that everything is in high-level description such as, subsurf this, loopcut that, divide these faces. It's about ideas for approaching a task, not the details about which keys do what. So if he started this one in 2.49, there's no reason to switch in the middle for the purposes of his process journal.
I'm actually more comfortable in 2.49. Still getting my feet wet on 2.5, so yes, I agree with the above commentor.
thanks :)
Hi folks,
I need to address why I am still on 2.49. This current run of tutorials are like one long video. It is actually a habit of some studios to "lock down" version updating during a production. There is one more in this current part, and then I shall be very VERY happy to get with the times! I am really loving the new version, I have to admit, and it's hard for me to go back one last time to 2.49 to finish this model.
I hope you forgive me this one slight for the sake of consistency.
Nothing to apologize for, locking the version down was sensible and most everyone supports the decision on those grounds. Some people will just find anything to gripe about. Like me with the Blenderguru stuff last month. And just like my BG gripes, they are best ignored as the trivialities they are! In the end you only have to answer to yourself and so our gripes are of no consequence.
Nice tut :) However, why didn't you select the edge loops with the hotkey rather than with that menu?
Great tutorial, however I liked the timelapse ones a lot more.
Thanks,
MTracer
Thank you Paul, I always look forward to your video tutorials!
Nice one Paul!
