Blendm3 is a Blender plugin to work with StarCraft 2′s m3 files being developed by Alexander Stante. While animation and exporting aren’t yet supported, they are already in their development goals.

The Process Diary August videos released
Paul Caggegi released 2 video tutorials of his character modeling using Blender 2.49b this month. The first one released on August 10th is about the boot tongue and laces, adding more details with extrusion, edge-loops, altering crease weight, and modeling with Bézier curves. The second one from August 22nd is said to be focusing on getting the hair and teeth. Visit the links to his site for the direct downloads of these videos and more.
Blender 2.5 RenderMan Exporters
While “RenderMan” could refer to many things, it is also a standard protocol for rendering in many renderers, for instance, 3Delight, Air, Aqsis, Pixie, PRMan and many others not listed here. Currently there seem to be at least 3 parties working on their own 3 versions of Blender 2.5 to RenderMan connectors.
3,000 Articles on BlenderNation!
In the same week as our 60,000th comment, we reach another milestone: our 3,000th article (this one). In just a little over 5 years, this site has grown from a hobby experiment to a regular part of my life. When I was first amazed at just 400 readers, we now have over 13,000 unique visitors every day – and well over 1 Million pageviews per month!

Igor Sabbetti told us about an Italian television program “Superquark” which features an experimental wind generator with the images of “Carousel” made by Igor Sabbetti and Riccardo Covino using Blender 2.52, Gimp and Inkscape. They were using blenderRender renderfarm. Some parts of the production were made with 3DS Max and Vray – these were supervised by Luca Bonavita.

The Detail Library
The Detail Library is an open movie project to be used as laboratory for the pupils of the school of arts “Casa dos Quadrinhos” in Brazil and the project only use open source and freeware when needed. They posted a small teaser cutted from their animatic for a fundraising. On their blog you’ll find interesting artworks, including many beautiful 2D designs to a real 3D sculpture.
