There isn't always a lof of activity around the Blender Game Engine, so I'm glad to see this initiative: The Blender Summer Game Competition.

The first Blender Summer Game Competition has started!
This summer will be full of excitement as many of us blender users are making games to enter in this competition. If you don't know how to make games with Blender 3d, then this is a perfect excuse!
The deadline will be September 1st, so get those games coming!
The voting will take place from September 2nd to October 1st. It will be entirely community vote at the blenderartist.com forums. There will only be three winners, and the voting will be based on the following -
- Graphics
- Incredible Physics
- Gameplay - Most glitch free and professional
There is a nice array of prizes lined up so far:
1st Place
- Trophy
- Choice from Blender E-shop
- Blender Shirt
- Banner Picture
- Shirt with Logo of Game
2nd Place
- Shirt with Logo of Game
- Blender Shirt
3rd Place
- Shirt with Logo of Game
Some of these aren't confirmed, and hopefully more prizes to come later.
Links
- Rules, and more info are available at the WIKI and on the thread:
- Signup (There is no deadline for signup, just get it in before the deadline)
Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you in the contest!!!

Great! I hope i have enough time this year :D
I love blender and i love games ..so this competition is just my cup of tea:)
I doubt tho that i was able to make a game til then..but anyhow its worth a try i think.
Hmm... I suppose that "Incredible Physics" rules out a space game, doesn't it.
where do i view the voting place once the voting begins?

LOL. Nicely said :D
The most commun integrated graphic card used are the Intel...
Blender game engine crashes with intel graphic cards.
I am out of the competition.
@serpent: My thoughts exactly.
I hope to get my armature / ragdoll combo less glitchesque in time!
Dave Heinemann, 4th year noob.
Absolutely NoOne: Not if you involve Black Holes!
You know what would be really cool? A miniature golf game. You could have windmills, erupting miniature volcanoes and waterfalls. Lots of physics going on too. I would definately play it. I'm looking for a relaxing game. Too bad I don't have time to write it myself (I'm booked solid until Christmas). Maybe someone out there will get inspired to create the ultimate putt-putt golf game. If you need any help coming up with ideas for the holes, just reply to my post. Damn, that would be fun on a Wii console!
@venep go to
http://blender-games.com/megagolf i no u prob. didnt no bout it put it is basically a golf game full of phyisics well anyways go and look into it
It's a great idea to run this over the summer because all of us in school and college will have all the time we need to work on the entries!
I might just enter a game into this competition! I've been having trouble making an account on Blender Artists though. I never get the confirmation e-mail.
Well, me and some other people decided to test Blender 2.5 by making a game with it (with animations, sounds and all around it). Maybe we will sign the game for this competition
There is one rule that forbids using custom builds of Blender. Is this only for non-standard builds or even for Trunk builds? Does someone know?
Nice to see blenderartists hosting another contest! This indeed might be a good excuse for me to dig into the Blender Game Engine. It would make it more appealing to me if the BGE license agreement didn't require you to distribute the source code if you release the game (correct me if I'm wrong?). That puts a big damper on creating a commercial game with BGE. I'm starting to pick up Unity and look at that too, since it has a free version now (which I leared about here too). Gotta love Blender nation news! :)
Kamen/Bigbob: what I mean in the rules was to say that the game must run in the "Official" builds from Blender.org. You can model/texture/etc the game in any build or other program, but the game must be made in the Official ones(The ones you can download at http://www.blender.org, not from Graphicall)
But I doubt anyone will read this anymore XD
