Textures: Tile-able Wrapping Paper

2

cgcookie_wrapping_paper_05BlenderCookie is giving away five nice tile-able wrapping paper textures for your holiday season 3D projects under a CC license.

Wes Burke writes:

Everyone likes free stuff, but as artists free stuff can be a real life saver. With this round of free stuff, we are including 5 wrapping paper textures. These textures are 102400×1024 and are licensed as CC Attribution 3.0. You are free to use them for just about any use. In commercial work and personal, just not allowed to redistribute or resell. If you have any questions just let us know.

It is the season to model those cute little present boxes and bows, but sometimes it then becomes a challenge to dig up some wrapping paper textures. These are relatively small textures, but are tile-able so easy to cover or scale up for your projects.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Uh... under Attribution 3, you're allowed to redistribute. So I'm not sure why it says there that you're not allowed to "redistribute or resell" -- in fact, that'd be terrible. Then you can't even use the texture and then release your source!

    Garoth has a point there.

And another thing, they are not easy to scale up.
They are in .tga, a bitmap based format.
For good scalable textures, we need vector-based.
