First Blender 2.5 Tutorials?
Blender Foundation Releases Blender 2.5 Alpha 0
The Blender Foundation have just released the first test version of the upcoming Blender 2.5 – a HUGE accomplishment as Blender 2.5 is a massive rewrite of many parts of the software such as the user interface (support for multiple windows, completely Python driven, custom keymaps), rendering (volume rendering, much faster raytracing and the beginning of a new interface for external renderers), physics (smoke, new particle system) and a new animation system that aims to make *every* property in Blender animatable.

SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics Conference Announces 2010 Call for Submissions
(Chicago, IL) – ACM SIGGRAPH announces the 2010 Call for Submissions for contributors and volunteers for the 37th International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, Sunday 25 July – Thursday, 29 July 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.
SIGGRAPH 2010 will bring together the “People Behind the Pixels” – the brightest minds in computer graphics to share ideas and knowledge on many diverse industry disciplines. From students to studio executives, from scientists to researchers, SIGGRAPH provides contributors with the opportunity to present their work to the world.
Blender 2.5 Release Pushed to Tomorrow, Splash Revealed
A few hours ago I talked to Ton Roosendaal about the expected release time of the Blender 2.5 Alpha 0. He said: “we’re starting the builds now, and there are still mountains of work to be done on the website – it’ll probably be tomorrow”. So stay tuned! In the mean time, you can take a peak at the new 2.5 Alpha 0 splash screen (via @graphicall).

Tirnua is a free, browser-based simulation game that is available online and via facebook. It looks a bit like Second Life (although I didn’t sign up and try it, so I may be way off base here), and ‘uses eco-friendly practices to build its ideal environment.’. They just published a Blender tutorial on creating game backgrounds.
