A lecture about “Open Source 3D Software for cg-architecture” will happen in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I will give this conference as a part of a lecture series about “Free Software”, that will take place at Centro Cultural de la Cooperación, Av. Corrientes 1543, 3er piso. Ciudad de Buenos Aires (Argentina). Date: december 5, 12 hs. (all lecture series will take place from 9 to 19 hs).
Summary of the talk
The open source programs are a full and professional alternative in producing photorealistic 3D computer graphics, legally and without cost to the user.
During the talk, I will describe a circuit model of open source software for developing 3D renders at a photo-realistic quality. The process will cover the period since the 3D designer or architect get the plane by a customer until to obtain the final result as render, briefly describing a model of planning work.
Among others, I will will speak about the following topics:
- DWG format: what happen with this? Some temporary solutions.
- QCAD: Simplification of the plane.
- DXF: Format export.
- BLENDER: plane import, DXF plugin.
- BLENDER: setting the scene.
- BLENDER: models repositories. Import.
- GIMP: making of textures.
- YAFARAY: photo-realistic render for Blender. Scene settings and final render.
- GIMP again: post production.
- Complementary plugins and software: Arbaro and Ivy Generator (plants & trees), Suicidator City Engine
- COREFARM: Recently developments for collaborative cluster renders.
I hope it will be helpful.
