Once again, a Blender graphic features on the cover of a scientific journal. (See also our post on Science Magazine)

Explanation from the main page : 3D computer graphics of DNA transcription in eukaryotes. Previously determined molecular structures were placed in this scene according to available experimental data and rendered using the Blender software.
For the layman : We gathered models from several sources and imported them all in Blender, resolved an intricate 3D puzzle and made a picture of it.
And the people at BioEssays deemed it worthy of decorating their journal :)
Enjoy !

Cool. It'd be nice to see a bigger image though. I wonder if there's one around somewhere.
I just received a higher-quality image from Hua.
Oh, thats what it looks like :D
That's a beautiful piece of art. I'm not surprised they used it as cover art.
Very detailed O_o
Combining two of my favourite subjects: Science, and Blender. It's great to see there is a community of dedicated artists with a passion for supplying their talents to education and science.
@flawedprefect :
It is more a case of Blender lending its 3D muscles to help researchers visualize a concept.
It would have been more difficult to do that with existing molecular vizualisation tools.
:)
