materna02_AiSSeattle now has its own Blender User Group as well! It's catching on world-wide - very cool.

Oscar Baechler writes:

Prophetic Sky Inc, in partnership with The Art Institute of Seattle, is pleased to announce SeaBUG, Seattle's first Blender User Group.
Come down to The Art Institute of Seattle's north campus for a day of tutorials, presentations, networking and good times. Additionally, some food will be provided, and you might have a chance to win a free copy of Prophetic Sky's debut game, Townrs Defender for iPhone and iPod Touch!

The event will be held on October 10th, at the AIS North campus, from noon to 6. The room number will be announced soon. Additional details can be found at http://seabug.eventbrite.com/

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. This is great, really encouraging to see that with blender the idea of user groups has a renaissance.
It reminds me of the good ole times when there was c64 and atari user groups back in the 80s,
Everyone could join in and learn about homecomputing, get advice and inspiration.
Gotta love the blender grassroots movement!
Too bad its too far off for me to join it but i wish best luck and fun for everyone who attends or organizes it!
