Blender 2.5: Disconnect Hair

Here’s a teaser video of the new ‘disconnect’ feature of Jahka’s particles. It allows you to disconnect/reconnect particle systems from their emitter mesh so you can change the geometry.

    1. Agreeing with ‘Manga Gothic Media’.
The builds are buggy as! But I can’t complain though as I don’t know a single line of coding so I’ll keep my mouth shut :P

Can’t wait to play with the official release!

    2. That’s an absolutely indispensable feature! All the times i decide to do hair, i have to make absolutely sure that i won’t be doing any more modifications to the mesh, and eventually come back some months later to discover something about the mesh that bugs me…

Not only that, but it also means that you can have some hairstyle presets which you can copy over to any mesh you want!

Also, does this mean we’ll have UV texture control for stuff like kink, frizz, density etc. after Durian is finished?

    3. Naive question: is there any reason this shouldn’t become the default behavior?
It seems to me this would be what most people expect to happen.

EDIT: fogot to say, this is really fantastic!! Athousandthanks!

    4. I think is a really good feature!

I suggest only one small interface change, because:
“users read the label as and indicator of state”
Jef Raskin, The humane interface, p.38

I know that you have a verb but would be better to have a locker as the layer locker -> “Locks active camera and Layers to scene (Ctrl ‘)”, so the current state of the object is clear?

      Anyway, great!
