Recently entered into the Blender Game Contest was a beautifully made game entitled ‘Megagolf’ by Supersocks on BA. This is a true example of what can be achieved currently with the BGE, both with graphics and gameplay.

LuxRender Material Database
LuxRender has started a Materials Database from which you can download materials as well as upload you own content to it. It looks pretty impressive so far. While you are at the LuxRender site check out the gallery too. There are some wonderful Blender LuxRenders in the exhibit.
Model, Texture, and Render a Photo-realistic Kitchen in Blender and Yafaray
Karan Shah has created an excellant 96 step mega architectural tutorial on CG Tuts . “You will go through all the motions necessary to construct a complete, photo-realistic kitchen scene in Blender, and then render it with Yafaray (a free ray tracing, open source rendering engine).”
Honorary Degree Profile – Ton Roosendaal
Ton Roosendaal received an honorary doctorate in technology at the Leeds Metropolitan University yesterday. Here’s a short first interview with him.
George Rig 1.0
JeriH has released his George Rig 1.0. and he’s obviously put a lot of thought into this rigging, keeping the animator in mind all the time with simplified controls and a separate window for the entire IK/FK controllers with a nice GUI background. In addition he’s completed a companion manual for it.
BREAKING – Ton Roosendaal to receive honorary doctorate today
Ton Roosendaal will be receiving an honorary doctorate at the Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK later today for his work on Blender. A streaming video of the entire ceremony (direct link for Windows Media Player here) will start at 11am UK time (GMT+1) and is expected to last for two hours. As it will cover multiple persons, we can’t predict when Ton will be on.

48 Hour Film Project in Richmond, Virginia
Hand Turkey Studios is going to allow live public access to our production as we compete this coming weekend (17-19 July) in this year’s 48 Hour Film Project in Richmond, Virginia. We assembled a team and competed last year with the ambitious goal of completing an animation in Blender as our submitted work.

Endi has just informed us of a commercial game being made by him and the team he is currently working with. The game is called ‘Ignite’ and is a car racing game for the PC.
