Like all open projects by the Blender Foundation, project Durian will be partially financed pre-selling the movie, it’s assets and extensive documentation and (video-) training material on DVD. If you pre-order before september 15th your name will also appear in the movie’s credits!

What turned out to be a faulty power cable caused a bit of a panic yesterday as it brought down Proog, the server that hosts the Blender e-shop, SVN and maillists. With our regular sysadmin on vacation and Ton working against Siggraph, Durian and 2.5 development deadlines, the timing was just great! We all feared that the disks had crashed but Justa, sysadmin at our host XS4ALL, noticed the loose wiring. Hurrah!

Benoît Saint-Moulin is a teacher of interactive 3D technologies at the Belgian school Jacquard Infographie. He and a team of four students developed a game using a combination of tools including Blender, 3DS Max and the Gimp. They actually built an arcade machine around it with an innovative interface.
