Hi everyone,

After some long soul searching, I have decided to put forth a little more effort and offers Prizes for the 2009 Challenge. I have always believe in supporting the Blender e-Shop and this year is no exception. This year's Challenge is shaping up nicely with 13 entries at this point.

The basic information on Prizes:

  • 1st prize: “Bounce, Tumble and Splash!” Simulating the Physical World with Blender. This book has been written by Tony Mullen
  • 2nd prize: “Essential Blender”
  • 3rd prize: Big Buck Bunny DVD set

Thanks and good luck to all of the 2009 Blender F1 Challengers!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. to win the second prize in this prestigious competion shouldn't one have already mastered essential blender?
How about changing that for the Creature Factory DVD?

  2. How about making the 1st place prize the most recent/pending release from the e-shop, 2nd place the second most recent product, and so on? I think with the skill level required to win 2nd place, Essential Blender might not be such a good choice.

  3. Well, let's all remember those prizes are provided by Curtis and (usually) not the Blender Foundation itself. If I recall correctly, this competition ain't about the prizes, but the challenge to get better along with everyone else. If you win a prize, and think someone else can make better use of it than yourself, then just give it away ;) or organize another small challenge.

    :P

  4. Hi all,
If someone who wins a prize already has that prize then I am willing to work with them. The Blender e-Shop has plenty to choose from.
    Thanks!
