I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Blender integration into Silverlight?? Dont you mean Expression Blend? Silverlight does not have any 3D capabilities (sadly).

  2. Let's see. I'd love to attend the conference and make a report for linuxgraphics.ru, with photos and everything. I'm on Linux and I don't have Moonlight installed. Do I have to @#$% go and install Moonlight just to find out where the hell the conference is taking place?

Dear newsmaker, please learn to provide *useful* information. Thank you.

  3. Hmm, actually it's very fitting that you can't access it without silverlight. It demonstrates nicely how much we need ANOTHER web plugin monster in the wild. Especially from someone notorious for a distaste in sharing how things work.

    good stuff!

    Hello,

what do those other people in this place think about the fact that micro$oft has more and more interest in supporting Blender on their own platforms ? I think it´s a tactical turn to get back the users, which changed to linux or mac OS. I hope there won´t be any dangers for our nice Blender when micro$oft shows more interested in it.

Maybe they want to buy it and make a bad micro$oft program out of it. It would be an nightmare ;-)

Tell me what u think about this?

    nice greetings

(sorry for my bad english, hope everybody gets the point)

  5. for the last post..

Blender even if it is bought , the last source named 2.49 rc1 it will be open source the next will be closed source.

Even then , the 2.49 will be redeveloped in another name like : Animo, The Product or other names community chose and will be a parallel version to the commercial version.

Either way an open source version of Blender will exist! The Blender 3D license it is not retroactive neither any copyright right.

That is from the law perspective.

So either Microsoft , Autodesck, Pixlogic etc or others if they buy it will be for the next release.

So there it is no interest in paying so much for a corporation when the license will cover one version and other version will evolve around , it is waste of resource , that`s why it is more prevalent to buy a closed source program , cause you are the full owner.

GPL licence it is one around the versions , and that give a little liberty but it is not like closed source.

    :)

Silverlight has, that is your mistake.

  7. Dear Oleg, unfortunately http://www.magesi.ru/ does not seem to be working now (Silverlight plugin is installed).
As a professional .Net developer and a real amateur of Blender I am more than just interested in your conference. Having no chance to visit the conference (despite the fact that I am from Belarus, Minsk) I would like to ask you whether it will be possible to get to know more about the conference? Will it be possible to find the conference material later on? Thank you in advance!
