3ddesignspotDiscovery World, a technology museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is offering a 3 night workshop covering 3D Design on a budget, as a part of our DIY Media series. The class consists of 3 two hour sessions starting on April 7th, which cover will the basics of creating 3D graphics for a variety of mediums. These workshops are being taught by 2005 Suzanne Award winner, Chris Larkee.

shapeways_homeIt's been a while since I last wrote about my work for Shapeways. I don't want to write about it too often, but there's a lot of Blender activity going on here and I thought it would be fun to share the latest news. We've had busy times – I recently clocked in more Blender hours per week than ever before, fixing users' models and preparing prototypes for our Creators (for the new Photoshaper I created more than 50 test models ;-).

Here's a short update on what we've been up to. Also, I interviewed Blender user Fabian Fricke about his work and his impression of Shapeways.

 big_caveBlenderPocket is a Blender port dedicated for mobile devices (Phones, PDA, …) having a touch screen, small amount of memory (RAM), a low speed processor (with no floating point unit) and no graphic unit (no hardware acceleration). BlenderPocket is working today on all mobile devices with Windows Mobile 2003 or newer but it should be "easy" to make it work on any other devices. It just got upgraded from 2.42 to 2.48a!
