You should start by visiting www.blender.org to download the free software and checking out some of the tutorials at the Blender wiki, such as these:

Once you've gotten started with the very basics, the DVD on this page and other resources are available to get more advanced.</description>

My website has a bird theme and I would like to learn animation for my characters but do not know where to start and I do not know what programs and computer I would need. I have an ASI laptop, Microsoft Windows XP, can this be done on my laptop?  I would also like to learn to make "E-cards"   Where do I start?

		<description>I agree with Bart, VLC can read most of the video formats.
The only weird thing I noticed using MOV is that colours are less saturated than encoded with other codecs.</description>
