Animation: A Glimpse of Light

A beautiful animation by Alex Glawion. Download the Quicktime version (recommended; playable in VLC) or watch in low-res on Vimeo. His demoreel is also worth watching, although I'm not too crazy about the robot.

So touching…. the music with the light effect… and, in the end, the words, "MADE WITH BLENDER", so wonderfull !!!

    That's…

    It's…

    Well…

It looks like mutant plankton from outer space.

Wonder how he did these delicate ghostly stuffs…

This would be good to make a tutorial about. I for one don't fully get how you can achieve some of the effects seen here.

    Nicely done!

Oh yes, this is truely beautiful. Love the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack :)

His demoreel is VERY impressive. But I agree, the robot doesn't look that great, at least in comparison to his other works. He should probably cut those scenes, the rest is more than amazing enough.

The chromatic aberration is a nice touch - combined with the glow and the impression of radial distortion caused by the pattern of the chromatic aberration you really do get the impression of a lens pushed to its limits. Going to have to have a go at that effect when I get home… (The rest is also sweet, but that is the bit that caught my eye - that subtle attention to detail.)

I agree a lot of great stuff there. And I also think the rell would be a lot better without the robot.
Sorry to say so, I know it can be hard to "kill a darling".

Oh joy, due to the non-p2p nature of http, I can't see any of the videos in HD.

The video is amazing, the image with the music fit really well.
Does someone know exactly which music track form "Battlestar Galactica" was used?

.mov doesnt mean it's for quicktime…vlc read it without any addons so why do you say "stop quicktime ?" (and quicktime is slow and non-secured on windows but on macs it's the best player =_=)

well, for the demo reel…this is amazing ;-)

Absolutely amazing…jaw dropping effects. This was a very creative idea, and should be a booster for those who haven't done their own animations yet. (It made me want to do something.) The music is great, the only crit I have is that I wish it was longer, because I loved it.

    HHHhh!
I use (KMP PLAYER) which some say (Its like THE OS of Media Players)!
Ok with me on VLC but win it come to 3D or high-end movies KMP is first on MY list.

The 1:30 mint animation made me forget that it was done in blender or say i was looking at
a 3D work, the mix of music and the animation was great to start my day.

Hope more to come from (Alex Glawion).

Wow. I need a "how this was done"! Really astonishing stuff. Well done.

The music isn't by Richard Giibbs, it's by Bear McCreary. (Gibbs did the pilot movie of Battlestar Galactica, he didn't do the series.) It's "Something Dark is Coming" from the season 2 soundtrack.

You know what I love to see?
Work produced on this FREE, OPEN SOURCE software that isn't 'pretty good, y'know for a free program etc. etc.' But absolutely, top notch, professional work that makes me want to spend every waking hour improving, learning, mastering Blender.

    Sodding excellent!!

Absolutely stunning work, i am very very curious as to how you created those morphing type "creatures" and what not, especially around 0:46, and I am completely dumbfounded on how gelatinous you made some of those things look, amazing work. I agree with everyone else, tutorials would be huge.

    AWESOME!
Great stuff. I like how it's not the same as most of the stuff here. It's nice seeing something surrealistic and not just pictures of stuff.
