One of this years Emerging Technology on display at SIGGRAPH, is a user interface that expands on the mouse and tablet concept. With this technology, there are different types controls that you use to manipulate the various objects on your screen. These control objects are sensed by the "tablet", they are neither electronic or wired to the tablet. I'm not quite sure how this will fit into the pipeline, but I was fascinated by the technology.

Another display was on a wireless interface communication and power system. If you think back to how many times you've cursed the computer industry as you where crawling behind your desk, tracing through the maze of wires between your computer and the peripherals. This system eliminates the need for communication wires between peripherals and you no longer have to plug in each device into a power strip.

    @Hamunaptra dude the biggest source of radiation out there is the sun cause more cancers than anything else. stuff like this has to pass radiation test any ways

    but these control devices look pretty cool just hope the make it from the lab and into shops

    Wireless battery recharging already has some designers going.
    I saw some designs to put you mobile wireless on to recharge the battery. Very nice.
    You can build a frequency harverster yourself if you want too lol.

    Hamunaptra, if I recall correctly, they use resonance to couple the charger and item together. It's not throwing out lots of radiation in all directions.

    I hate reactable… It's clunky, requires wicked time to calibrate, and it's a complete rip-off of sensetable. Drives me bananas that its gotten so much exposure, granted audiopad never made its development methods widely open to the public…

    Regardless, if you're serious about developing a wacko board that has augmented multi-interacting tracked objects, then true RFID is the way to go. : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm3HKf1FWx4 : That might just be me, but computer vision systems feel are really a waste of computing power.

    The power-cloth is neat, but how can you wear it if there's a sign that says "Microwave! Do not touch!"
