John,
Thanks for all the nice work. I will pass it on to my students if they have not already seen it. Very clear and concise, I like it!

Hi MrPerlishells, the intent of Bit #2 is to show changes to preference defaults from the previous version that surprised me. One of the things that surprised me was having to do something different to see the scripts :)

Just to make sure I'm not completely insane... I just un-installed and re-installed Blender to re-confirm the behavior. The "Re-evaluate scripts registration in menus" button did not work for me when I accept all of the installer's default settings. Clicking the button results in an "Invalid scripts dir: check console" error, in which there is nothing in the console. Then when I quit and relaunch Blender and try it again, I get no error, yet the scripts still do not show up. In order to get the scripts to show, I needed to navigate to the location, which on my machine is in in: C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts. Selecting the "Installation Directory" option worked fine and in the manner I was previously accustomed.

Personally, I prefer the scripts in the Blender application folder as it is easier for me to find them :)

I installed Blender 2.46 on the user's directory on WinXP and I can't access the script just like he said. Will there be a 2.46a or will it be fixed in 2.47?

"Why BoB?"

Boy, that phrase scared me. I thought we were going to have to go back to Microsoft's Bob to use these videos!

My intent for Bits of Blender is for it to be (for the most part) a set of quick reference videos on Blender features, and a fun thing to do with my boy (who's a 9-year old Blenderhead). I hope to keep adding to them on a regular basis, though I imagine winter will be more productive than summer ;-)

Now I can go to bed knowing that I helped Tim keep his job. ^_^
