Tiger hair test

Renderdemon has posted up an incredible hair test on Blenderartists. I'd say its Blendernation praiseworthy. Nice work renderdemon. Some good screenshot eyecandy as well.

That is one FIIIINNE looking cat.

I've seen people try to make furry pets with Blender before and the results are always…. less than realistic.

But this is just fantastic. I hope he posts it on CGTalk.com

Impressive results! Personally I would say that it doesn't look quite like a live cat, but it looks like a photograph of a real taxidermy specimen (eg. museum diorama item). I'm not sure quite what the difference is.

    Whoa!

Eyes popped out of my head! That is absolutely Awesome.

Seriously, thats the first bit of cg I've seen which made my jaw actually drop…

"Personally I would say that it doesn't look quite like a live cat, but it looks like a photograph of a real taxidermy specimen (eg. museum diorama item). I'm not sure quite what the difference is."

It's because the pose is the neutral pose, symmetric, unnatural.

When the model is posed I am pretty sure this tiger should scare the shit out of anybody :)

And the remark that are done about the control over the fur particle is more or less what I think :)

I personally find it is still a bit hard to get the result I want from it… Although I wouldn't mind having Renderdemon explaining how he did the fur of his tiger :)

Real nice work, real nice. Would love to see it posed and in situ (hell imagine what it would look like animated!).

Though I can understand that Renderdemon has been working hard to get this far!
