Big Buck Bunny Premiere – Video #2
Martin Pyka was at the Big Buck Bunny Premiere this week and he made a great video report in which he gives a good impression of the event and interviews Nathan, William, Nathan and Ton. . You’ll also find some photo’s on his site.

I am back from Amsterdam, from the great Premiere of “Big Buck Bunnyâ€. They did not promise to much with their trailer. The gags worked, the pictures and animation looked great, I can’t wait to see everything again on the DVD. At the party they presented already some DVD-features. You will be able to see the whole film as storyboard, in a rough animated version, in a blender window and in the final version at the same time. There are also some outtakes.
I had the opportunity to talk to the artists and some other Blender-Users. Here is a video that I made before and during the premiere.

So Ton said Durian starts November/ December…something to look forward.
Yeah. I’m anxious to get my dvd now. and curious to see what comes of Durian lets hope it doesn’t stink. tehe.
What makes (c) so impressive? beaceuse artists can make profit form their work. I really want to realize how we make $ on (cc) license:) Maybe Mr Roosendaal can (coz he is Smart), And maybe dissemination of creative commons can be benefit in some cases, but we should not get used to feel that everything will be covered by it…
I didn’t read every article on the subject, but does anyone knows if the movie will get released before the DVD is shipped? I really want to see it.

@shul: the movie will be released after the DVD; the idea is that the people who made the project possible by ordering the DVD will be rewarded by being able to see it first. I *think* the movie will be released 2-3 weeks after the DVD has been shipped, but we’ll hear that soon enough from the Blender Institute, I imagine.
@Bart: I thought so.. that’s a shame since the movie is out there and like with ED, the movie will get to youtube the minute someone gets the DVD, I say (as someone who bought the DVD) – let us see the movie, and release the DVD iso’s 3-4 months later.
You see: there always must be group of people that will pay for the artists work.
In this way (cc) license makes conflict of unequal distribution of support, we thank you, guys for buying the DVD, but this is rather
demoralizing to others…

And, to be honest – if project is released using this way, fair would be not releasing it on internet if you bought the DVD. (I wish that everyone will not be angry on me for this statements.)
@xenon: people who bought the DVD knew it will be released under (cc), so there is no point to your argument, fair or not – we chose to finance some of this project.
thanks for posting this. it was a really great evening. the only recommondation i have for the next time is: make a third and fourth screening! ;) i missed the second one!

It looks realy promising. No imagine you could do a movie in full length. That would be some kind of a breakthrough for Blender.

Durian needs to use distributed rendering.
I’ll bet they could make some use of a 65nm mobile C2D with 4 GB of RAM running Ubuntu Hardy or Intrepid :)
…and I strongly doubt that I am alone.
Is there a list of resources out there for distributed rendering solutions with Blender? I’ve tried a half a dozen programs with mixed results.
Anyway, I’m really hoping that the muscle system will be used in Durian, because that is one tool in Blender that I would really like to see in the main toolset.
