To fully represent the growing computer graphics and interactive industries, SIGGRAPH’s Computer Animation Festival is expanding into a full-scale film festival that will incorporate curated and competition screenings, discussion panels with filmmakers/artists/producers, and an expansive awards program. In addition, the Computer Animation Festival will be more accessible to the general public than ever before.

I can tell you this is an excellent DVD. I have seen much of it already and it goes into great detail. Jonathan does a good job of going through the process and giving plenty of step by step info on his workflow so you can easily follow along.
The Blender Foundation Certified Trainer (BFCT) Program has been officially launched. The 12-member review board for the program has put a lot of effort into getting it off the ground and we’re ready to see how well it will work. If you teach or train people in Blender, get your application materials together, because we’re accepting applications now!

As you can see from my previous post, I’m starting to get media releases for SIGGRAPH 2008 and, well, it got me motivated to finally edit this piece from SIGGRAPH 2007. At SIG-07, I was frantically running around the exhibit hall on opening day with my camera, not sure of where to go to first, for about half an hour before the crowds were let in. The end result, I ended up with thirty minutes of raw tape that I just edited down to about three and half minutes. Hopefully you’ll find it “tantalizing”. ;-) OK, so I won’t get an OSCAR for best documentary. The main idea is to give you a taste of the what it’s like in the Exhibit Hall.
