Short animation "La cuenta"

cuenta.jpgThis 9-minute short animation, created by Nicolás Alvarado, is nicely done and one of the more watchable short films done in Blender. Despite the less than stellar graphic details, the storytelling pulls you through to the end. And well, that's what a film is supposed to do.

Nicolás Alvarado writes:

This short animation take me about one year to make, this is for my final year of post production study, in the cinematographic school of Chile, i learn most of blender in the making… i have to say, blender save my year! … now i done, tomorrow I receive my graduate certification… thanks to all!

I'm at work so i watched it without sound - still impressive. The graphics could use a bit of work, but the cinematography was great. Very nice camera movements and composition. The credits were paticularly cool

One of the best Blender films I habe seen until now!
Especially camera and cutting are excellent.
The soundtrack could be more appropriate partially.
More foley would be of great help!
Of course the theme is very important and is packed
    in an interesting storyline.

this is great; the story, the way you make me understand everything, the sense of justice and the pity too, the music, the choices about the flas-backs,; the tecnical aspects are ok because everithing goes in the right way; no need of special effectes or of realism, the story is dramatical enough and also the comic-like aspect is perfest in order to generalize; i appreciate the fact that you prefer to tell everithing wothout easy pruderie; through the faces we can see the souls; for me is a great work, i think that blender is a simple tool, and in your hands it was useful to tell something; thank you for sharing!

Hey, wonderful work! And many congratulations for your degree, too.
I only noticed that, when there are a lot of camera changes (e.g. in the sequence with the chorus in the church), it may become a little annoying those slight acceleration and deceleration of the camera at the beginning and end of each single shot.
In some of them shots it's okay because it lets you focus on a single item or person. But if heavily used it stresses the viewer a little; in some ausiliary shots, expecially when not zooming but just moving along a line, it'd be better to mantain constant velocity throughout the shot.
Anyway, just my 2c, it was very beautiful!

That was great! I like how you used almost all of the things to use in Blender

I can only add my 'wow's to all the others.
You have a way of telling story that is really good.
I certainly hope that you can continue in your life,
making stories (maybe for yourself, maybe with others)
    but keep on 'keeping on'.
Again, wow! And thanks for the opportunity to see your work.
