Interview with an Open Peach Movie Cast Member.

chin-set.jpgI recently interviewed, VIA the Internet, the actor Chin from the Peach Project. He was a bit agitated during the interview so I only managed to get a short clip before he stormed off the set.

He did email me later and said that if he has more time, we could resume the interview, so, check it out and see what was agitating him about the project.

LMAO thats great, get that guy some fur!! =)

  • vanfanel

Very nice looking. One thing about the name of the character…I don’t want to get overly PC or anything, but in Japanese, “chin” happens to refer to a certain part of male anatomy that may generate unplanned giggles. I know that you can’t take every single language into consideration on every single detail, but isn’t there a fairly good-sized Japanese install base?

  • Tim

unplanned giggles are a plus! The Japanese have a good sense of humor, they can handle it.

What? Chin? Ah, that must be the stand-in for Gamera, our REAL chinchilla actor. I’m afraid we might have to let this guy go, too much of an ego (no more room for ego’s in this project with me already in it). But I’m sure Gamera can handle it all himself.
Btw, don’t forget to check him out when the Peach blog is up again, so you can check out his fur is doing fine.

  • humble

yeah, gamera is the real one!
Though the name is very close to camera, so don’t get confused when suddenly working with a full body armatured camera because you mixed up camera and gamera in the outliner ;)

  • Sensei

    @vanfanel

No it doesn’t. I know the words you’re thinking of, but “chin” by itself does not mean that.

    Chinpoko mon!

  • roofoo

I hope the actors don’t go on strike! :D

Also, if Chin is a bad word, then Japanese must really get a laugh at the expense of Chinese people. It’s a very common name.

  • terence

Chin by itself is not a Japanese word (to my knowledge, and I lived there for 7 years). It does begin many words which are perfectly innocuous. Repeat it and you do have a child’s euphemism for male genitalia, but there should be no danger of Japanese viewers thinking of that when the name is just a single use of the word chin. Any Japanese blenderheads out there feel free to correct me.

    Nice work, Tim :D

  • Tim

Thank you for all your nice comments. I’m glad you like the animation.

BTW – anybody notice the soda can on the table?

  • vanfanel

Sorry, but I’m afraid that it does, at least in the minds of every teenager I’ve encountered while teaching here over the last three years. My students here have on occasion tried to get me to say it by pointing to their lower jaws and asking me what the English word is (with big, expectant smiles on their faces as they ask, of course). Actually, that word, and any word starting with the same four letters, invariably gets smirks/giggles in English class. Another meaning of “chin” is a sort of “Imperial ‘We’”, and one of my co-workers told me about being embarrassed as a child the first time he heard it.

  • Tim

O.K., they giggle, it’s no different than say, learning the planets in elementary school, you know, Uranus.

Lets put this thing to bed now and hopefully, just enjoy the animation for what it is, my silly animation exercise and ribbing the Peach project crew.

  • Jeepster

he didnt have any lower body motion O_O is he parapalegic?

  • Tim

    Jeepster,

I suppose I could have added some belly rolls…
